Written reflections
(2008 - all my stories)
1. First fic
I'd had some in the works since the previous year, but the first one I actually posted was Inaction (Albus/Gellert), which I'd started in February. It didn't see the light of the internet until June.
2. Last fic
Not counting the reposts, And a Sunday's Asylum for All (Birkin/Wesker), posted in early August. Wow, did I have a pronounced period of fic activity last year.
3. Kinkiest fic
I didn't write anything noticeably kinky. Somehow any kink I can think of tends to stay within the realm of ideas, but maybe I should break the ice this year, so to speak. XD
4. Fic that was the most fun to write
Oh, definitely The Properties of Leeches (Birkin/Wesker). The whole idea came almost randomly to me, it was the first time I'd written these characters, and although it's not an especially funny fic, I cracked up so much while writing it. Or maybe just plain cackled. And I still think it came out rather well. It was one of the purest fun writing experiences I've had.
5. Fic that was the most challenging to write
In Fragments Unsettled (Albus/Gellert). That one did not "come quietly". Don't take the challenge of it badly, though: writing it was both hard and cathartic, and I'm proud of how it turned out. I love the distilled form of it, the fact that I managed to streamline subject matter that was quite heavy enough to make it understated. I also like the "unbiased" narrative here.
6. Best fic written as a gift or for an exchange
And a Sunday's Asylum for All was a present for

7. Most well-received fic
Everything I got quality comments for. I've learned not to judge by numbers.
8. Most overlooked fic
Alright, if we must go by numbers, probably the RE stuff since most people I'm in contact with aren't in the fandom, and my comm for the characters isn't large by any means.
9. Fic that came with the best bunny
It would be a tie between The Properties of Leeches and On a Limited Time. Actually, make that all of the Birkin/Wesker fics since they were new characters for me and I wrote so much for them all of a sudden.
10. Personal favourite of the year
In Fragments Unsettled. I'm still so pleased with that one.
11. Fic/idea/fest/pairing you're most excited about for 2010
You know what would make me excited? Writing more consistently throughout the year and perhaps finishing some of the half-written or outlined projects I have lying around. There are more than I care to admit. XD In terms of possible new pairings, it remains to be seen whether I'll be swayed towards Holmes/Watson this year.
And for those of you feeling generous who would indulge my ego, there's this:
Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the characters' heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.
Here's my supremely unchronological index post if your memory needs refreshing. :D
